While purchasing the right type, you need to consider a list of certain factors. Generally, high-quality matcha comes with less bitter taste, are good to feel and smoother whereas, low-quality matcha host a bitter and coarse taste. Adhering to this fact, here are some of the major factors to count while finding the best quality matcha.

Origin
It’s important to look for the country or specific region of the country from where the matcha is being originated. Generally, it is said that though China and Taiwan also produce Matcha but, the finest quality Matcha is being produced in Japan. The nation has gained wide recognition all across the world which, has two specific regions naming Uji City in Kyoto prefecture and Nishio City in Aichi prefecture as its leading producers.

Colour
While eyeing on its colour, you must look for a real vibrant green colour, since the greener it is, the better it is. High-quality matcha is shade-grown and thus, they overproduce chlorophyll whereas, low-quality matcha are not grown under the shade properly or might be older or harvested from lower stalk of the plant and thus, won’t come with that vibrant green colour.

Feel
High-quality matcha comes in the form of a fine powder compared to the typical loose leaf being consumed by you normally. Low-quality matcha generally comes with bigger particles and aren’t so smooth as compared to high-quality matcha. Its particle size is almost 5-10 microns which, is much similar to baby powder. Thus, we believe you can figure it out how smoother it is.

Taste
High-quality matcha comes with a vegetal, sweet smile because of the presence of L-theanine in it. L-theanine is generated by producing the matcha during the shade-growing process, which results in offering a clean-drinking, nice, green tea taste. Low-quality matcha will come with an astringent-like, bitter flavour which, certainly isn’t sweet or tasty.

Final word
While making matcha, you must be careful while whisking it. Hot water is being added to sencha fine powder and whisked it thereafter, which must be done properly to bring the best taste out of it. The better whisked it is, the greater taste it will deliver. Black tea vs Green tea: What’s there to know
To start with, all types of tea are hand-picked from a green leafy shrub belonging to the species of Camellia Sinensis. However, for preparing tea, the new leaves are being fermented and cured. This in turn, helps in breaking down most of the active compounds. On the other hand, green tea is being prepared by steaming the leaves lightly after picking. It not only helps in preserving the active compounds but also destroys the enzymes which, are required for breaking them rapidly.

Why to opt for Green
It’s being used since centuries in the domain of conventional Chinese and Ayurvedic medicines for facilitating digestion, promoting heart health, helping to heal wounds, improving digestion, stabilizing blood sugar and boosting the mental function. Nowadays, this ancient ritual has taken the form of a concrete scientific finding along with numerous studies being carried on for proving the richness of antioxidants and other substances present in it. They help in lowering the cholesterol level, protecting against cancer, diabetes, heart diseases, gum diseases, viral and bacterial infections. Moreover, it helps in calming the nervous system by minimizing the levels of stress hormones including epinephrine and cortisol.

How it helps in promoting weight loss
Green tea is being proved to inhibit lipolysis, the typical process which, is used for breaking down the dietary fats of the body. Inhibition of breakdown of triglycerides aids in preventing the absorption of fat. This in turn, ensures you of the fact that you are not supposed to gain excessive weight. Moreover, catechins present in green tea inhibits an important enzyme named as Catechol-O-methyl transferase (COMT) which, speeds up the metabolism rate, thereby increasing the rate of calorie burn.
